Thermally Fused Melamine (TFM)

What is Thermofused Melamine?

A low-pressure melamine laminate is manufactured by using a single layer of impregnated melamine paper (deco paper). This paper is applied to the surface of the substrate, which is then place in the heated press. Under heat and pressure this process causes the melamine resin to flow. Across the surface of the deco paper, within the deco paper, and into the surface of the substrate forming a Thermofused bond. This creates a bond of paper to the core. The plate provides the texture. Thermofused melamine panels are often made of particleboard and MDF. A veneer layer may be added with various types of wood, including red birch, red oak, white maple, steamed beech, cherry, and alder. Next, the panel is finished with a decorative top layer that is treated to. last longer.

Applications of TMF:

Recommended for vertical applications for kitchen cabinets, furniture, fixtures and computer workstations where high impact and high wear resistance are not critical. Specified for both vertical horizontal applications that are subjected to medium wear.
